STAFF OPENING
TRANSPORTATION OFFICE
BUS DISPATCHER Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Twelve Month Position* *Summer hours may vary
Typical essential duties, but not limited to:
- Assign vehicles and drivers to properly follow bus schedules
- Plan, schedule, and allocate drivers for special transportation such as field trips, athletic events, etc.
- Assist in planning bus loads, stops, routes, and schedules
- Operate a school bus, as required
- Maintain all record keeping related to the operation of transportation
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of school district area, location of all schools within the school district, and those schools located outside of the district for which transportation is provided
- Considerable knowledge of all routes and bus stops
- Knowledge of locations to which field trips are provided
- Knowledge of all rules, regulations, and policies relative to transportation
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel and public
- Computer literacy preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of satisfactory bus driving and/or motor vehicle dispatching experience
Necessary Requirements:
Valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with P & S endorsement
and
Candidates must satisfy all requirements of Article 19-A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
